WORKSHOP Description:
Discover “new” traditional techniques and movement pathways of our ancient dance texts and classical choreographies.
For all students of Odissi, join us for a powerful recharge of your Odissi Dance practice! The workshop will begin with warm up and strength training exercises followed by unique sequences of Hasta Mudra Vinyasa and Drishti Bheda. Starting from our ‘kinesthetic home’ of Chowka 1-5 dancers will begin to explore other stepping practices Colleena has compiled from Odissi’s wide vocabulary sources such as traditional choreography and Natya Shastra. Explore Chāri & Bhramari from both Pathfinder and Natya Shastra and develop nuance through detailed instruction on drishti with each movement.
