Odissi Dance: New Phrases

This pop up Odissi Classical Dance workshop will be an inspiring exploration of several unique movement stylizations that give Odissi its charming curvature. After a warm up and short series of training exercises Colleena will introduce new steps and mudra/arm pathways that build into 2 short phrases: one explores abhinaya movements rarely broken down, yet common to Odissi’s romantic/devotional storytelling choreographies, and another phrase centered on the complexities of weight shifts and elastic movements in nirtta choreographies.

Ideally students joining should have a strong foundation in Odissi classical dance technique.
