Mudra: Theory & Practice Workshop ~ Berkeley

Explore graceful Indian dance hand postures and transitions as well as practicing how to communicate meaning through this ‘language of gesture’.  In the lecture you will learn about the symbolism and meaning, origins, intentions and histories woven into these striking dance mudra.  We will practice several hasta vinyasa (fluid sequences of the hands) and training sequences that develop dexterity and grace.  Working with mudra has a long history and is noted for its both aesthetic value and therapeutic benefits on the brain and nervous system.  Everyone is welcome, no dance or yoga experience is required.
