Pranam (sanskrit) means ‘reverential salutation’. It is important to add here that a salutation implies 2 entities/energies bound together by the simple acknowledgment… “For without a point of departure, there can be no flight”. What is key to understand here is that the act is based on offering one’s efforts to something greater than onesself.
Reverence and offering is at the core of all Indian dance traditions.
The idea is to take a moment to realize our connectivity with the forces in the world around us, give thanks and set the intention to create a positive energy through our dance practice that might uplift, heal and inspire oursevles and the world around us.
