Indian Fusion Belly Dance Workshop ~ Berkeley
October 6 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Intricate & Elegant dance flow with Colleena Shakti ~ Open Level
Welcome to the intricate and elegant world of Indian Fusion…
Stylistically speaking, Indian Fusion movement vocabulary is inspired by cultural dances of India and the Middle East (including its modern evolutions). This dance bridges modern and folkloric Belly Dance vocabulary with extensive postures and spins of North Indian classical and folk dance, intricacies of eyes, hands and facial expression from Eastern Indian classical dance.
What we will learn:
We will begin with embodiment practices, breath and gentle warm up designed especially for the demands of this dance form. Receive a careful breakdown of techniques that focus into Indian Dance techniques and how they can be interpreted to embellish fusion dance styles, such as: mudra/ hand movements, drishti / gaze, arm patterns and poses. We will drill techniques and conclude by building a beautiful choreographed dance phrase tying together all that was presented.
This is a multi-level workshop, there will be elements of challenge and familiarity for everyone.
